The smell of fresh-made coffee is one of the world's greatest inventions!

I am happiest when I am working with a strong, diverse and engaged team to solve complex problems without clear solutions. Whether this is designing and executing experimental test plans to validate a functional requirement or strategizing about the customer experience of flying a BlackFly through all different types of flights and environments to inform the flight controls and cockpit ergonomics. I’m happiest when a team is laying out assumptions, debating ideas and applying the scientific method to lay out the next move. Then the best part is learning from that move to make the next step, test plan or pivot to a whole new idea entirely.

Multitasking and positivity.

My team’s greatest achievements (to date!) are parachute testing and being the first public demonstration of human flown eVTOL flight at the world’s largest airshow. There are many complex variables, procedures and risks to consider when designing a parachute system and test plan. Watching the parachute deploy and the aircraft safely come to the ground each time has been a huge achievement for the whole team. Flying BlackFly with 6 different operators (non-pilots!) at the world’s largest airshow, Oshkosh EAA Airventure is also a noteworthy and incredibly great achievement. I can’t wait to see what we do next.

If you want to be the best in the world at something, you have to learn from your mistakes, get comfortable being uncomfortable and keep going when others give up.
