Introduce yourself
My name is Idriss Kone. I’m a passionate, tall, web developer, who also just so happens to be the best fiscal player in the office.
How long have you been at Sheertex?
I’ve been at Sheertex for just over 3 months now. It passes by so fast, but it feels like I’ve been here for 3 years, especially due to the strong relationships I’ve made with the people here.
What’s the biggest win you’re proud of in your time here so far?
Launching the Sheertex Insider site so that people within the company are able to order their tights in a more efficient way, and it also takes the load off of our Office Specialist.
Tell me two truths and a lie about yourself.
My fav movie ever is Love Actually, I was born with 12 fingers, I was an extra on Game of Thrones.
People at the office say you’re the master of dad jokes, can you tell us one?
What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie? Sofishticated… HA!
Introduce yourself
Hi, I’m David, Senior eCommerce Manager. I’ve been at Sheertex for a year now and oh what a year it’s been! If you ever drop by the office, I’m hard to miss—big guy, with an equally big smile.
eCommerce Manager, what does that mean exactly?
The primary role of an eCommerce Manager is to ensure we’re offering the best possible online experience for our clients. I balance between making sure our websites look great while ensuring a fast, responsive and snappy customer journey. Since eCommerce is at the center of Sheertex’s business model, I make sure to encourage good vibes and a zen attitude among our teams: Stress down, productivity up!
What’s the best part of managing people at Sheertex?
We are very lucky to have amazing talent at Sheertex. Our recruitment team makes sure that our new recruits are incredibly competent, but above all are a great fit for our team. The way that everyone works and helps each other is great—and makes my job much easier! As a side note, I get to work with pretty much every team at Sheertex. To witness the various teams in action, all producing quality projects, campaigns, and products never fails to impress me.
What’s the biggest win you’re proud of in your time here so far?
I’ve been working in eCommerce for nearly 10 years and to experience the hypergrowth that Sheertex is going through is impressive; it’s not something that most companies will ever achieve. Also seeing Sheertex mature and evolve is very interesting—I am very proud to be part of this adventure.
What advice do you have for people trying to break into eCommerce?
Are you an avid online shopper? That’s the first step. When you shop online, you encounter many sales funnels, explore various websites, and recognize what features make a good online shopping experience. A successful customer journey is all about attention to detail. Once you make the decision to work in eCommerce, you need to figure out what you want to specialize in. Do you want to create beautiful websites or code them into existence? Do you have a keen and precise eye? Then merchandising could be an option. Love to help people? Customer support would be an amazing role for you. The possibilities are endless, and eCommerce is only just starting to grow across the world.
What would you consider to be your biggest passion?
I have two: traveling and cooking (and eating!). If I wasn’t an eCommerce manager, I would probably be running a professional kitchen. Every trip I take, every place I visit, I try to meet up with local cooks, chefs, and enthusiasts to learn new recipes, techniques, ingredients, and flavors. During my spare time, you might catch me in a cooking class or restaurant hopping.
