Sustainability Philosophy
At SRTX, we are on a mission to lead and accelerate the world’s transition to responsible fashion.
Through our material developments and technologies, we aim to solve some of the industry’s most complex issues.

Problem: Product Durability. The average life-span of apparel products has reduced by [x] amount since [x date]. This core issue, combined with a quick moving trend cycle leads to billions of tones of apparel being disposed of every year. What began with an unrelenting quest to rid the world of disposable tights, has expanded to address the apparel market as a whole. By bringing our proprietary fiber SRTX Dura to the market in scale, we can bring durability to all sectors of textiles.

Problem: Forever-Chemicals in Specialty Textiles. Speciality fabrics and textiles have long been a consumer of toxic chemicals and coatings. With new bans on PFAS finally coming to pass around the world, the time is now for a more sustainable solution. The proprietary membrane, SRTX Hydra combined with our SRTX Dura knits, provide e naturally water-repellent and durable alternatives, suited to any number of specialty textile applications.

Problem: Manufacturing Opacity. With questionable manufacturing practices plaguing the apparel industry at large, consumers and shareholders alike have begun demanding transparency. Through the innovative Cortex software system, SRTX not only brings manufacturing into the future, but also enables step-by-step traceability for the end consumer.

Product Design
Circularity starts by extending the lifetime of a product.
More than 40% of people report that their tights do not last beyond 3 wears, and in 70% of cases the maximum number of wears they reach is 6. It is estimated that a person has to buy an average of 10 to 11 tights per season. This means consumers spend around a hundred dollars per year only to experience repeated frustration when their product fails, and throw out over 2 billion pairs of pantyhose each year. This is equivalent to more than 110,000 tonnes of post-consumer waste ending up in landfills.

To counter this, our products are designed from the best of materials science and knitting technology, in classic styles that can be worn year-round. We are continuously looking to improve our production costs so we can pass on savings to our customers. Our goal is to make our products completely affordable and get them into the hands of as many people as possible, to replace disposable hosiery for good.

Reducing Pre-Consumer Waste
A key component of circularity is ensuring that the maximum amount of input materials are converted into usable apparel.
All SRTX products are made stronger and more durable due to their stronger base fibers, which maximizes the number of wears per item and reduces the number of total products in circulation. While increasing the longevity of our products through our knit already makes a difference in landfill waste, we prioritize the reduction of waste that’s made in the apparel manufacturing process. We have built a manufacturing process that minimizes the creation of pre-consumer waste as much as possible. The little waste that is created is converted into other products like headbands, scrunchies and masks that make up our Zero Waste Collection.

Material Science
SRTX is a company with advanced material science, software, and manufacturing automation that brings to market longer-lasting products with a rapidly falling cost curve. Our Sheertex® knit technology will disrupt the $1.5 trillion apparel industry and accelerate fashion’s transition to a zero-waste future.
SRTX’s patents, trade secrets, supply chain, and distribution advantages are incredibly unique, making them difficult to replicate or circumvent. There are few companies that span the value chain as completely, have as much IP, or share our commitment to sustainability as we do.

Cortex & Smart Manufacturing
The 115,000 sq. ft. SRTX factory, based in Montreal, QC, is the largest knitting operation in Canada and the only connected knitting factory in the world.
We converted Canada’s largest hosiery factory into the world’s first smart factory for knit apparel, tracking every part of the production process using Cortex. Built to automate our manufacturing operations, Cortex is a SaaS platform for running modern, connected, responsive and real-time aware soft goods and textiles factories. It enables factories to go paperless, generates meaningful insights into production from raw material consumption through to finished goods inventory, and gives operators better work order control and reporting capabilities.
Packaging
SRTX is committed to packaging our products as sustainably as possible in an effort to decrease our carbon footprint.
We prioritize recyclable, plant-based plastics and paper, otherwise leveraging biodegradable materials. We continually strive to minimize what we use, finding new ways to make our packaging lighter or to better fit in shipping bags, thereby reducing the total amount of materials used.

We’re Committed To Creating Better Plastics
Over the last 60 years, synthetics like nylon have been mass adopted for their durability. Our durability and the longevity of the garments we can produce with it are unmatched.
Evergreen Inventory
In a world of fast fashion where consumers demand changes every season, apparel brands find themselves caught with massive amounts of unsellable inventory every season. Tights is a category dominated by staples, with consumer preferences remaining relatively constant from season to season and year to year. This reality allows Sheertex to consistently stock the same staples and avoid the traditional build-up of unsellable off-trend merchandise.
Leading Change in Apparel
We have fundamentally changed the hosiery category with our proprietary Sheertex® knit technology. Sheer tights can now be a sustainable staple in your wardrobe.

Statement of Philanthropy
The adverse economic, environmental, and social impacts of the apparel industry are undeniable. We believe the apparel industry as a whole will be transformed by better textiles and smarter factories, fundamentally changing how clothing is produced. While we push the boundaries through our R&D, we recognize our responsibility to make a difference that goes beyond our technology. In recent years we have donated to organizations like Black Girls Code, Centre Communautaire LGBTQ+ de Montreal, Planned Parenthood, and The Asian Solidarity Fund, and intend to continue supporting organizations that contribute to shaping a more socially-just future.
